History
Significant phases of company development:
- ”First impulse,was a successful fight my mother had led with cancer and the fact that she managed to beat it due to radical changes she made in her eating habits and nutrition. The consequence of this was an establishment of Alfa Bio company in 1980. Since that time our kitchen table has changed, and moreover, it made me change my professional career.“ This is what Mr. Ján Lunter, the founder of Alfa Bio, Ltd. says about the way it all started. ”However, at that time the doctors frightened us, telling us that our children will not grow up and their brain won’t develop. The truth is that our children are taller than we are and they are very smart. I have to say thanks to Dr. Míka who approved the changes we made and noted that those people whose tables are full of food of animal origin are the ones to be worried. Today our assumptions can be supported by the standpoint of the World Health Organization and its declaration of equivalence of animal and vegetal foodstuffs and moreover, the statement that food of vegetal origin is harmless. Our objective is not to persuade people to become vegetarians, but we would like everybody to take care of their health, so that their nutrition “pyramid“ is not built upside down. At present time we are not dying from lack of nutritious substances. In the world statistics we hold one of the top positions in dying from vascular diseases and cancer, which, according to specialists, are a consequence of wrong eating habits.“ - director of Alfa Bio adds in the end.
- Company Alfa Bio, Ltd. was established in 1991 with a mission to pass over this positive experience from behind the “green table“ to the other people we meet.
- At the beginning Alfa Bio traded with healthy products and tofu – soya cheese, as a wholesale producer and seller. Our tofu was produced at home and thus formed only a small proportion of our assortment. However, it didn’t take a long time for tofu to “show“ its market potential. It was more and more demanded and our company was forced to produce one ton of tofu per week. After gaining several regular customers, e.g. the French company Country Life, management of Alfa Bio had decided to make tofu production its main business activity.
- Alfa Bio as the first tofu producer in former Czech and Slovak Federative Republic gradually became its major producer in Central Europe. In the process of diversification of business activities, besides tofu production we also opened a vegetarian restaurant in the city and built a packing hall for packing our foodstuffs, which became to be very demanded.
- At present the company is made up of one single plant producing soya cheese - tofu as well as other soya-based products. We also operate a healthy food shop and a vegetarian restaurant in the city. Alfa Bio company uses modern techniques and latest production technologies, it gradually extends the portfolio of its products and innovates not only the production itself, it is also the design of product packaging as well as communication with the partners on the market that are subject to changes due to latest trends.
- High quality of all Alfa Bio products and reasonable prices guarantee satisfaction of company‘s customers, the number of which increases every day. It is also one of the reasons why the company has built up a highly professional network of sales representatives all through the Slovak Republic and employs more than 60 full-time employees. Alfa Bio products have also been demanded by markets of neighboring countries of the Czech Republic, Hungary and Poland.
- Professional qualifications in soya processing, which is a new certificate to the European continent, was awarded to the company on basis of training acquired during the stay of Alfa Bio director, Mr. Lunter, in Japan and later in the USA, at Universities of North Dakota and Illinois, where he was awarded the certificate in “Successful Strategies For Processing And Marketing Soymilk Products“.
